Bidspirit auction | A SPANISH ORDER OF MILITARY
A SPANISH ORDER OF MILITARY MERIT WITH CHAIN, FIRST CLASS, CIRCA 1890 - Comprising the First Class insignia of the Spanish Order of Military Merit, suspended from its original gilt metal chain. The decoration consists of a white-enameled Greek cross with gilt borders, surmounted by a royal crown, the obverse centered by a red-enameled medallion bearing the monogram ”MM” for Mérito Militar. The reverse is fitted with a polychrome enamel medallion displaying the Spanish royal arms, finely executed in red, white, blue, and gold enamels. The crown suspension is crisply modeled with detailed arches and an orb-and-cross finial.
