A GERMAN WWII HEER M43 MOUNTAIN TROOPS FIELD CAP WITH EDELWEISS BADGE, CIRCA 1943–1944 - Field-gray wool M43 Einheitsfeldmütze issued to Wehrmacht Gebirgsjäger mountain troops. The cap is of standard construction with a short forward visor, fold-down side and rear panels secured at the front with two pebbled field-gray zinc buttons, and the national trapezoid insignia machine-woven in subdued colors and applied to the front. The left side retains the cast alloy Edelweiss badge, correctly executed with textured petals and a gilt-finished center, affixed through the cloth in a regulation manner. The interior is lined in gray rayon with a stitched-in partial sweatband of ersatz leatherette and shows period factory or depot ink markings beneath the lining.
