A RUSSIAN IMPERIAL LIFE GUARD OFFICER HELMET, 20TH CENTURY - Formed of gilded metal with high domed skull applied to the front with the enameled eight-pointed star badge of the Order of St. Andrew, bearing the blue circlet with Cyrillic inscription and central crossed anchors and scepter emblem, surmounted by a finely chased double-headed eagle crest wearing the Imperial crown with cross finial. The helmet fitted with articulated gilt scale chin straps secured by rosettes at the sides, the rear with a projecting neck guard. The interior retains its original leather headband and blue fabric lining, with red cloth under the rear visor consistent with Imperial Guard officer regulation. Condition: Overall very good condition for type, with surface wear, light scratches, and scattered dulling to gilding consistent with age and service use, enamel star intact with minor wear, interior lining worn but largely complete, later stabilization possible, structurally sound.
