A PERSIAN SILVER-INLAID BAZUBAND ARM GUARD, 19TH CENTURY - A Persian arm guard (bazuband) of the Qajar period, forged from steel and finely etched and engraved throughout. The surface is decorated with elaborate figural and vegetal ornament arranged in vertical registers and cartouches. At the upper section appears a prominent mythological or talismanic figure rendered frontally, emerging from dense arabesque scrollwork, while the central register features additional human figures enclosed within shaped cartouches, reflecting the Qajar revival of figural imagery in arms and armor. The composition is framed by bands of stylized Arabic Kufic-derived inscriptions, engraved in a dense, ornamental manner. The overall decoration displays the characteristic Qajar combination of traditional Islamic motifs with expressive figural elements. Persia, 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
