Bidspirit auction | AN 18TH CENTURY CAST BRONZE
AN 18TH CENTURY CAST BRONZE INDIAN HORSE HEAD - An 18th-century Indian cast bronze horse head mounted on a custom-made base. The head is probably an ornament for a Zenana carriage or a temple chariot. Frequently, the extremely elaborate carriages were dismantled and their ornamental parts were sold as memorabilia, a practice that gained momentum during the Victorian Era. The naivety of the design obeys the fact that such ornaments were placed in large, if not copious amounts, giving priority to the overall aesthetic effects rather than individual items. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C. Helios Auctions offers in-house shipping. In case we can not accommodate a shipping request, a list of additional shippers will be provided. Dimensions: H (excluding the stand): 8 1/4 in., (21 cm.) Condition: The head is in good condition overall. There are no visible signs of damage or restoration.
