AN INDIAN IRON DHAL SHIELD WITH BRONZE DECORATION, 19 C. - Consisting primarily of steel, the outer surface has an applied brass roundel, bosses, pierced ovals, and crescents, all incised with small circles centered on dots. The outer border has crenelated and incised brass decoration, and the inside is lined with red fabric and has a similarly lined cushion at its center. India, 19th century. Condition: Brass is very clean with only minor dents in places. Iron has surface rust but is largely in good condition. The fabric is in great condition for its age.
