A FRENCH COULAUX & CIE KLINGENTHAL HUNTING DAGGER, MID 19TH CENTURY - A finely crafted French hunting dagger produced by the famed smiths at Coulaux & Cie of Klingenthal. The dagger consists of a long, slender steel blade with double-fullers to each side and a hilt of cast-metal, decorated throughout with detailed mythological scenes in relief. The piece is kept in a scabbard of black leather with metal fixtures, the chape being decorated similarly to the hilt. Klingenthal, France, circa 1840-1870. Please make all inquiries before bidding. Dimensions: L: 28 in., (71.2 cm.) Condition: Blade strong and mostly clean, with some light pitting in places as expected for age. Metal fixtures all in very good condition with nice patination. Some light pitting to throat of scabbard. Only light wear to scabbard leather, very good for its age.
