A EUROPEAN ROMANTIC DAGGER WITH SCULPTURAL HILT, 19TH CENTURY - A European romantic dagger with a sculptural hilt depicting an infant or putto preparing to thrust a sword into the face of a menacing serpent. The blade is of a relatively simple triangular construction, with two thin fullers to each side. The sheath is decorated with foliate and geometric patterning in relief. Europe, 19th century.
