A FRENCH ROMANTIC DAGGER WITH A GILT BRONZE SCULPTURAL HILT, 19TH C. - A French romantic-era dagger with a gilt-bronze sculptural hilt shaped as a panicked man with a dagger in one hand being attacked by a writhing snake wrapped around his legs. The blade with a wide fuller with 3 small grooves running its entire length. The piece is kept within a black leather scabbard with molded gilt-bronze foliate mounts. France, 19th century.
