A SUPERB ITALIAN DAGGER WITH A GOLD-DECORATED BLADE, EARLY 18TH C. - A refined and elegant Italian dagger exhibiting exceptional craftsmanship, likely produced in a Northern Italian center such as Milan or Brescia, both renowned for fine arms manufacture during the Baroque period. Mounted with a finely turned grip of dark ebony or horn, fluted or smoothly polished. Accented with gilded or silvered ferrules and a baluster or spherical pommel, often with a turned finial. Finely adorned near the forte with intricate gold damascened decoration, featuring floral scrollwork and military motifs, typical of Italian weapons intended for nobility or ceremonial use.
