A QAJAR PERSIAN JAMBIYA WITH WOOTZ BLADE AND CARVED BONE GRIP, 19TH CENTURY - A beautiful Qajar Persian jambiya dagger with an excellently patterned wootz blade (also known as Damascus or Watered Steel), and a grip of bone which has been lovingly carved with depictions of two robed guards, shields lashed to their arms, holding banners mounted on poles. The blade is kept within a scabbard of stitched black leather wrapped around a wooden core. Qajar Iran, 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding. Dimensions: L: 13 3/8 in., (34 cm.) Condition: Excellent condition for its age, with the blade retaining an excellent pattern and showing only the tiniest traces of pitting or staining. Edge still sharp. Grip with some hairline cracks which are likely original to the bone, present from the date of manufacture. Sheath leather with some surface wear, a short split along the inside curve, tip chipped off.
