A PERSIAN OR TRANSCAUCASIAN KINDJAL DAGGER QAMA WITH GOLD INLAY, 19TH CENTURY - A Persian or Transcaucasian kindjal dagger with a characteristically shaped bone handle and a blade of steel decoratively inlaid with gold at the forte and possessing two slender fullers that run most of the length of the blade. The forte decorated with gold koftgari in stylized Arabic calligraphic motifs, talismanic in character. The decoration imitates Arabic letterforms but does not resolve into a fully legible inscription, a practice typical of Ottoman and Caucasian daggers of the late 18th–19th century.
