A PERSIAN WOOTZ STEEL DAGGER WITH SHEATH, 18TH/19TH CEN. - A Persian dagger with a pointed wootz steel blade with raised midribs to each side and its patterning still visible. The backstrap of the hilt as well as the guard are decorated with embossed and nielloed foliate motifs. The grip is comprised of two dark-brown horn grip scales. The piece is kept within a scabbard of wood wrapped in black, grainy leather. Persia, 18th or 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C. Condition: Blade in good condition overall with some pitting and staining consistent with age. Horn grip with some sections of worming throughout. Scabbard leather worn but still mostly intact, with some loss toward the tip.
