AN INDO-PERSIAN GILT PESH-KABZ WOOTZ DAGGER WITH STONE GRIP, C. 18TH CEN. - An Indo-Persian pesh-kabz dagger which has been decorated with gold koftgari throughout much of its surface with foliate decoration. The remnants of Arabic text, likely verses from the Qur'an, are visible on both sides of the blade. The T-spine has been sculpted with a diamond and fleur-de-lys style symbol at the end of a rectangular section, which flares from the base to the beginning of the blade's curvature. The grip scales are both of stone, possibly onyx or a similar stone. Indo-Persia, c. 18th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding. All lots are sold ”as-is”, refer to our T&C. Condition: Some small cracks and chips to stone grip scales. Blade and tang with a dark patina. Gilding rubbed and with some minor loss, but mostly intact.
