A TURKISH DAGGER WITH ARABIC INSCRIPTIONS, 18TH CEN. - A Turkish dagger with a blade decorated with two cartouches with Arabic inscriptions made with gold inlay at the ricasso one on each side. The script reads as follows: NO FIGHT (SKIRMISH) لا قتال and I DO IT ONLY FOR YOUR SAKE O ALLAH نوا له الا رضاك يا الل. The grip scales are made of polished horn, the scabbard is constructed of wood covered with red velvet (original) and fitted with hand-hammered brass furniture. Late 18th century.
