This vibrant California Scene painting captures the coastal town of Mendocino with rooftops in the foreground, a view opening out to the bay with sailboats, and rich, textured impasto in earthy greens, ochres, and deep blues. The composition reflects the mid-century plein-air and impressionistic traditions of California painting, with a bold use of color and gestural brushwork that suggests both atmosphere and movement. Canvas remains taut and stable on the original stretcher. No visible tears, punctures, or significant losses. Minor surface soiling consistent with age. Areas of impasto show light craquelure and accretions, particularly in thicker passages of paint (not distracting).
