A PAIR OF E. TAYLOR PASTEL LANDSCAPES, AMERICAN SCHOOL, EARLY–MID 20TH CENTURY - Each signed E. Taylor, lower right, pastel on paper, both framed. The pair consists of two impressionistic landscape scenes rendered in soft pastel. One depicts a tranquil woodland and river scene with fresh green foliage and blue-toned hills beyond. The other captures a luminous twilight field under a glowing moon, with vivid orange and gold tones in the foreground. Both works show a sensitivity to atmosphere, color harmony, and light, characteristic of mid-century American landscape pastels. Presented in vintage carved wooden frames. Condition: Both works remain in generally good, stable condition. Pastels with some expected surface smudging and minor fading consistent with medium and age. The papers show slight toning and isolated foxing. Frames with age-related wear, rubbing, and scattered nicks, especially at edges and corners. Backings with staining, old cardboard mounts, and wire hangings. No evidence of significant losses, tears, or repairs to the artworks themselves.
