A P.W. JOHNSON (BRITISH, 19TH CENTURY) STILL LIFE OF FRUIT, 1875 - Oil on canvas, signed lower left P.W. Johnson 75 (for 1875). The composition depicts an opulent still life with peaches, pears, grapes, and raspberries arranged upon a marble ledge against a shaded woodland background. Canvas prepared by Winsor & Newton, London, as stamped to the reverse. Presented in a period carved and gilded frame. Footnote: P.W. Johnson was an English still-life painter active in the mid to late 19th century, noted for his lush fruit compositions and fine textural detail.
