A PAIR OF RUSSIAN PORCELAIN CABINET PLATES WITH SCENIC RESERVES, PRIVATE FACTORY, MID TO LATE 19TH CENTURY - Each of the scalloped circular form, decorated with a rich crimson ground and extensively enriched with gilt rococo scrollwork and foliate ornament. The centers painted with pastoral landscape scenes featuring architectural ruins, bridges, and villas set within river landscapes, rendered in soft polychrome enamels in the romantic taste. The shaped borders are finished with feathered white edging and gilt highlights framing the central reserves. The reverse is plain white with a recessed foot, unmarked. The color palette, painterly handling of the landscapes, and gilded ornament correspond to mid to late 19th-century Russian porcelain production, likely from a private factory working in the Gardner and Popov tradition for the domestic decorative market.
