A FRENCH QUIMPER PORQUIER-BEAU PORCELAIN DISH 'HISTOIRE DE LA GRAND-MERE', 19TH CEN. - A French painted porcelain plate produced by the Quimper firm Porquier-Beau in Brittany, entitled 'Histoire de la Grand-Mere'. The plate shows a country scene of an old woman talking to a group of children, regaling them with stories of her life. The scene is surrounded by a border of twisting foliate designs with the Ermine coat of arms of the Duchy of Brittany at the top. The verso is signed with the title of the piece as well as the name 'quimper' and the 'PB' mark for the manufacturer Porquier-Beau. Bretagne, France, c. 1875-1903.
