RS PRUSSIA PORCELAIN TEACUP AND SAUCER WITH ORCHID DECORATION, SUHL, GERMANY, CIRCA 1898–1916 - A fine matched porcelain teacup and saucer by RS Prussia (Reinhold Schlegelmilch), of thin eggshell body, each piece decorated with hand-painted orchid blossoms against a softly airbrushed ground shading from pale yellow to green. The cup of gently cylindrical form with squared loop handle heightened in gilt, painted on the exterior with large pink orchids to one side and smaller yellow orchids to the reverse, with subtle leafy shading in the background. The conforming saucer is decorated with corresponding pink and yellow orchid sprays arranged asymmetrically along the rim. Both pieces finished with gilt rims and foot accents. The undersides bear the green underglaze factory mark with a star above ”R.S.” within a wreath and ”GERMANY” below, used for export production. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
