Bidspirit auction | A ROYAL BONN PORCELAIN PORTRAIT

A ROYAL BONN PORCELAIN PORTRAIT VASE, SIGNED BEERBOM, LATE 19TH C. - Of baluster form with flared rim and circular foot, the cobalt blue neck and base enriched with gilt tooling and dotted ornament. The main body is finely hand-painted with a continuous landscape scene: one side depicting a young maiden in Renaissance-style attire leaning against a stone balustrade, with blossoming trees behind her, the reverse with a wooded lakeside landscape at sunset. Both sides are enclosed by shaded grounds and delicate foliate borders. The decoration signed “Beerbom”, one of Royal Bonn’s listed porcelain painters active circa 1890–1910, known for portrait and scenic decoration on vases, plaques, and tablewares. Royal Bonn (Franz Mehlem Porcelain Factory, Bonn, Germany) operated under this name in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their richly enameled and hand-painted vases, particularly those featuring portraiture, are highly collectible. Artist-signed examples are especially sought after.
