A ZSOLNAY EOSIN-GLAZED OPENWORK BOWL, PÉCS, HUNGARY, 20 C. - Of rounded form rising to a slightly everted rim, the body decorated with applied pierced scrollwork cartouches and medallions, covered overall in a rich iridescent eosin glaze with shifting tones of green, gold, and copper. The underside with an impressed anniversary mark reading ”Zsolnay Pécs Hungary 1853–1978” and ”Hand Painted”. This is a later 20th-century commemorative Zsolnay piece, celebrating the 125th anniversary (1853–1978) of the factory, and finished in their signature eosin glaze.
