A FRENCH BRONZE, LA VÉRITÉ, ALBERT-ERNEST CARRIER-BELLEUSE (1824 - 1887), 19TH CENTURY - A fine example of the bronze sculpture La Vérité (Meaning The Truth) by the important French sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824 - 1887), one of the founders of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and mentor to the famed Auguste Rodin (1840-1917). The bronze depicts truth represented as a woman in neo-classical dress, holding a mirror in one hand which faces the viewer, and an olive branch in the other. The base of the bronze itself is signed 'A. Carrier', with the plinth being labeled 'La Vérité / Par Carrier Belleuse'. Paris, France, 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
