AN EGYPTIAN REVIVAL FRENCH BRONZE, KING MENTHUOPHIS, EMILE-LOUIS PICAULT (1833-1915) - An Egyptian Revival style bronze entitled either 'King Menthuophis' or 'The Pharaoh's Gift', depicting the eponymous king in full regalia with gilt trim, holding his left hand outward to show a small statuette of two horses. The bronze was composed by the French sculptor Emile-Louis Picault (1833-1915), and is signed by him on the base, along with a stamped mark 'GS' with a star and bee. The piece is sat atop red and black stone plinth with gilt trim, two statuettes of the deity Ra-Horakhty, the combination of Ra and Horus. France, 19th century.
