A CAST IRON ARCHITECTURAL MASCARON PLAQUE IN THE FORM OF A BEARDED CLASSICAL MALE HEAD, LATE 19TH CENTURY - A cast iron architectural mascaron modeled as a bearded classical male head, possibly representing a river god or Neptune-type figure, executed in high relief. The deeply cast hair falls in heavy, sinuous locks framing a pronounced brow and downcast eyes above a full, textured beard. The mouth is pierced, creating shadow depth within the composition. The mask is shaped with gently canted corners, designed for architectural mounting. The reverse is hollow-cast with relief compression of the facial modeling and uniform wall thickness, consistent with sand casting. The surface retains a dark oxidized patina throughout.
