A PAIR OF 19TH CENTURY DARK PATINATED BRONZE FIGURAL CANDLES - Each cast in dark patinated bronze, the candlesticks modeled as winged putti supporting foliate candle platforms, the figures shown in dynamic poses emerging from scrolling acanthus leaves rising from shaped bases. The bases formed with naturalistic and Rocaille-inspired ornament, the overall composition reflecting the Rococo revival taste popular in Continental decorative arts of the late 19th century. The modeling of the figures is expressive, with finely rendered facial features and textured wings, the stems integrating sculptural and functional elements in a unified design.
