A PAIR OF FRENCH ORMOLU CANDELABRAS, 19TH CENTURY - Each finely cast in gilt bronze (ormolu), the candelabra rising from a shaped square base with stepped plinth and applied classical ornament, the stem formed as a fluted and faceted column with foliate and architectural detailing. The upper section issuing six scrolling arms arranged symmetrically, each terminating in a candle cup with beaded rims, the arms embellished with acanthus leaves and scrollwork in the Louis XV taste. The central standard surmounted by an additional socket, bringing the total to seven lights per candelabrum. The overall design reflects the 19th-century French revival of Rococo and Neoclassical forms, executed with attention to detail in the casting and chasing of the gilt bronze.
