A TALL CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN BALUSTER VASE, 20TH CENTURY - A Chinese porcelain vase of elongated baluster form with a flared rim and tall neck, decorated in underglaze cobalt blue on a pale celadon-tinted ground. The body is painted with a continuous figural scene depicting scholars and attendants in a garden or terrace setting, accompanied by auspicious motifs including cranes, clouds, and symbolic objects. The neck is further adorned with applied lug handles in the archaistic taste, echoing earlier Qing dynasty forms. The composition reflects traditional Chinese narrative decoration, executed in a style inspired by 18th century prototypes but produced in the 20th century. China, 20th century.
