A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN COVERED JAR, 20TH CENTURY - A Chinese porcelain covered jar of ovoid form with a domed lid and knop finial, decorated in hand-painted famille rose enamels on a rich cobalt-blue ground. The surface is adorned with large naturalistic floral sprays, likely peonies and chrysanthemum-type blossoms, rendered in soft pinks, greens, and yellows with fine brushwork and subtle shading. The decoration is executed directly in enamel rather than cloisonne, without wire partitions, indicating a painted porcelain technique inspired by earlier Qing dynasty famille rose wares.
