A PAIR OF CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN PLATES, QIANLONG PERIOD, CIRCA 1760–1780 - A pair of Chinese export porcelain plates painted in famille rose enamels with underglaze blue and iron red accents, each centered with a small floral spray within a dotted inner border and surrounded by a delicately composed rim of alternating reserves of diaper-pattern panels and stylized foliate scrollwork. The palette of rose pink, cobalt blue, iron red, and green reflects the mid to late Qianlong period export taste for the European market. The decoration is executed in a light and airy manner with fine brushwork typical of provincial export kilns producing wares for Western consumption. Both with scattered kiln grit, firing imperfections, and light surface wear consistent with export porcelain of the period. Minor staining and utensil wear to the cavetto. No major restoration observed from images.
