A FINE FRENCH PARIS PORCELAIN GILT AND GREEN GROUND CABINET CUP AND SAUCER, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY - The cup of elegant flaring cylindrical form with applied scroll handle pierced with three openings, raised on a circular gilt foot. Decorated on a deep green marbled ground enriched with crackled veining in imitation of malachite. The body is centered with a winged torch and entwined serpent motif reserved in polychrome enamel and heightened in gold, alternating with circular red medallions containing classical profile silhouettes in gilt. The upper rim and interior are fully gilded in burnished gold. The conforming saucer is decorated en suite with repeating winged torches and red profile medallions against the green ground, within concentric white and gilt borders. The underside is unmarked, retaining traces of kiln grit to the footrim and bearing an old paper collection label reading ”Tasse porcelaine Louis Philippe.” Please make all inquiries before bidding.
