PERSIAN OR INDO-PERSIAN, LATE 19TH TO EARLY 20TH CENTURY MINIATURE SILVER HOOKAH - Of diminutive and finely worked form, the hookah is modeled in traditional baluster shape with a flaring base and tapering neck surmounted by a small finial. The body is richly decorated in repoussé and chased relief with stylized floral and foliate motifs, including repeating palmettes and berry clusters within lobed reserves. A band of vertical fluting encircles the upper section beneath a beaded collar. The vessel is fitted with a curved spout to which is attached a twisted-link silver chain terminating in a small cylindrical mouthpiece, preserving its original functional and decorative character. The overall surface exhibits a warm patina with areas of light wear, consistent with age and handling. The underside bears a worn stamp, possibly a workshop or assay mark, though indistinct, suggesting regional production rather than a major urban assay office. The form and decorative vocabulary are consistent with Persian or North Indian silverwork produced for domestic use and the export market during the late 19th and early 20th century.
