A PERSIAN SILVER REPOUSSE BOWL, QAJAR PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY - A silver bowl from Qajar Iran, with repousse depictions of an allegorical scene, possibly from some literary work such as the Shahnameh, showing figures around the rim of the cup with various animals and tools in hand, one person holding a snake, another interacting with a griffin-like creature. The wide-mouthed cup is sat atop a conical base decorated with foliate motifs, the handles being shaped as foliate scrollwork. Iran, 19th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
