A RUSSIAN PORCELAIN EASTER EGG, 19TH CEN. - A finely painted Russian porcelain Easter egg of ovoid form, decorated in pastel tones with scrolling foliate ornament in the Neo-Rococo taste. The cream-white ground is enriched at the shoulder with stylized acanthus scrolls and pendant floral motifs in soft pink, turquoise, cobalt, and green, bordered by a beaded band in brown and cream. The upper section features a turquoise reserve with radiating dark blue rays surrounding the suspension aperture, creating a sunburst effect. The restrained color palette and enamel-like decorative treatment reflect late 19th-century Russian porcelain production, likely associated with the Imperial Porcelain Factory or a closely related St. Petersburg workshop working in the Imperial style. The egg is mounted on a gilt metal stand with a cylindrical gilt finial, indicating use as a display or presentation piece. The decoration is more architectural and ornamental in character than narrative examples, demonstrating the influence of Neo-Rococo revival motifs popular in Russia during the second half of the 19th century.
