A FRENCH GILT-BRONZE AND ALABASTER “VENUS” MANTEL CLOCK GARNITURE, 19TH CENTURY - The three-piece garniture comprising a mantel clock and a pair of matching tazzas, the clock with a square alabaster case mounted with a gilt-bronze figure of Venus seated in a contemplative pose, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals and pierced gilt hands, the movement with bell strike, the case raised on a gilt-bronze mounted base with repeating classical ornament, the accompanying garniture urns of classical form with scrolling handles and gilt-bronze mounts, each raised on alabaster pedestal bases en suite with the clock. Condition: The set is in overall good condition with minor wear and rubbing to the gilt-bronze surfaces, the clock movement is present but not tested for accuracy, and one garniture bowl containing later decorative shells.
