A FINE KPM BERLIN PORCELAIN PLAQUE ”THE EXPULSION OF HAGAR” AFTER ADRIAEN VAN DER WERFF, PAINTED BY LUDWIG STURM, SECOND HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY - Rectangular plaque finely painted with the biblical subject ”The Expulsion of Hagar”, after the composition by the Dutch master Adriaen van der Werff (1659–1722), depicting Abraham dismissing Hagar and Ishmael, the figures rendered with refined academic modeling, soft transitions of flesh tones, and a luminous enamel surface characteristic of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin (KPM). The plaque is signed ”Heyn” in the lower right area. The scene is set within a classical landscape with architectural elements and a distant horizon, executed in the highly finished Berlin school manner. The plaque painted by Ludwig Sturm (German, 1844–1926), a listed KPM artist known for his finely detailed figural compositions after Old Master paintings. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
