A FINE AND RARE BRONZE PLAQUE DEPICTING SAINT AUGUSTINE OF HIPPO, EUROPEAN, 17TH CENTURY - Rectangular bronze plaque worked depicting Saint Augustine enthroned upon clouds and cherubim, identified by the Latin inscription ”AUGUSTINUS” at the upper field. The saint is shown wearing episcopal vestments and mitre, holding a flaming heart pierced by arrows symbolizing divine love and spiritual fervor, and a crozier held in the opposite hand signifying his authority as bishop.
