A PAIR OF ITALIAN NEOCLASSICAL MARQUETRY PANELS, FLORENCE OR NORTHERN ITALY, CIRCA 1800–1830 - Rectangular wooden panels inlaid in various woods on an ebonized ground depicting symmetrical compositions centered by a classical urn issuing fruit and foliage, flanked by winged putti seated on scrolling acanthus, above ribbon-tied garlands and a grotesque mask. Executed in walnut, pearwood, maple, boxwood and other woods with sand-shaded details in the Florentine intarsia technique. The reverse with plain wood backing.
