A RUSSIAN FAIRY TALE BOOK ”MARIYA MOREVNA”, WITH ILLUSTRATIONS BY IVAN BILIBIN, SAINT PETERSBURG, 1903 - Illustrated children’s fairy-tale book titled ”Марья Моревна” (Mariya Morevna), published in Saint Petersburg in 1903, featuring full-page and in-text color illustrations by Ivan Bilibin, one of the most important Russian graphic artists of the early 20th century. The book is decorated throughout with Bilibin’s distinctive Neo-Russian style, combining medieval Russian ornament, folkloric motifs, and stylized narrative scenes framed by elaborate borders. The covers are printed in color with ornamental panels and mythological imagery, while the interior includes richly colored illustrations integrated with decorative typography. Several illustrations are signed in the plate ”И. Билибинъ” and dated 1900. The publication bears a censorship approval stamp reading ”Дозволено цензурою. С.-Петербург, 8 Ноября 1903 г.” and retains the original price notation ”Цена 75 коп.” on the rear. The publisher’s imprint for the State Paper Procurement Expedition is present, consistent with deluxe illustrated editions of the period. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
