A MINIATURE ITALIAN EMBOSSED LEATHER PALANQUIN, ITALY, 19TH CENTURY - A finely crafted miniature model of a sedan chair (palanquin), constructed of wood and leather, the exterior richly decorated with tooled and gilt-embossed floral and foliate motifs in neoclassical style. The structure features a gently arched roof, glazed side and front panels, and a hinged door with a small brass latch. The carrying poles are covered in matching leather and fitted with pierced brass rosettes. The interior retains remnants of the original fabric lining. This charming object, likely made in Italy or France in the 19th century, was probably intended as a decorative miniature or a display piece inspired by 18th-century sedan chairs used by European nobility. The high-quality gilt leatherwork and elegant proportions reflect the refined craftsmanship associated with Italian decorative arts of the period. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
