A PAIR OF SOUTHWESTERN NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO WOOL RUGS, 20TH CENTURY - A pair of wool rugs woVen by one of the Navajo tribe of the American Southwest. One rug is decorated with a characteristic Navajo geometric pattern, the other with a 'whirling log' symbol at center, similar to a swastika, which is a sacred Navajo symbol representing life and humanity among other things, often used for healing rituals. The symbol has largely fallen out of use after the 1930s because of its now dark connotations. Navajo Nation, early 20th century. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
