A RUSSIAN ART NOUVEAU SILVER TEAGLASS HOLDER, 19TH - 20TH CC. - A Russian silver podstakannik of cylindrical form, the body with a slightly flared base and a shaped, scroll-pierced upper rim forming a decorative gallery. The surface is finely engraved with stylized floral and foliate motifs in a restrained, linear manner characteristic of late Imperial decorative taste. The handle of geometric rectangular form is attached with a subtle S-curve support, providing both structural strength and visual contrast to the otherwise soft contours of the vessel. The interior retains a warm gilt wash. The underside bears a kokoshnik assay mark with profile head, together with a maker’s or workmaster’s mark initial in Cyrillic: ”B.С”. The placement and style of the kokoshnik suggest a date in the late 19th to early 20th century, likely between 1896 and 1908. Weight: 5.5 oz., (156 g.) Dimensions: H: 4 3/8 in., (11.1 cm.)
