AN UNUSUAL RUSSIAN SILVER TEAGLASS HOLDER IN OPENWORK NEO-RUSSIAN STYLE - Of faceted, openwork construction, the body executed in the Neo-Russian taste, imitating forms and motifs of traditional peasant wooden utensils. The pierced sides and shaped rim create a lively silhouette, while the overall design reflects the late 19th century revival of vernacular Russian decorative vocabulary. Raised on a shaped base, the form combines functional solidity with ornamental lightness. Hallmarks: maker’s mark ”И.Н” in Cyrillic, partially indistinct, assay master’s mark ”И.Е” dated 1874, 84 silver standard, and St. Petersburg city assay mark for 1873–1874. Weight: 218 g.
