A RUSSIAN COMMEMORATIVE SILVER TEA GLASS HOLDER, VARVARA BALADANOVA FACTORY - A cylindrical tea glass holder with a handle in the Neoclassical style, featuring a leaf motif, is decorated with an asymmetrical engraved pattern; one side bears an engraved monogram, while the other features a design of flower stems. In the center is an engraved dedication: “To my beloved brother // Shura // Russia, September 1, 1928 // Kolya.” The body of the holder and the base bear the following hallmarks: Moscow Assay Office 84 with a delta symbol featuring a head in a kokoshnik facing right, assay mark—a head in a kokoshnik facing right, and the maker’s mark in Cyrillic “В.Б” [Varvara Baladanova]. Weight: 172 g. Height: 13.3 cm. Varvara Alekseevna Baladanova, owner of a silverware factory, Moscow, active 1896–1908; in 1905, she had 40 workers. (See Postnikova-Loseva, 2885, 2286).
