A RUSSIAN SILVER AND NIELLO TEAGLASS HOLDER IN NEO-RUSSIAN STYLE, GRIGORY IVANOV WORKSHOP, 1866 - A cylindrical teaglass holder featuring a cut-out and engraved design with black niello, imitating the chambers of a boyar’s tower. The lower rim and the bottom bear the following hallmarks: assay mark 84, the hallmark of the assay master “V.S. 1866,” assay mark “84,” a horseman in a rectangular shield, and the master’s hallmark in Cyrillic “GI” [Grigory Ivanov]. Grigory Ivanovich Ivanov, owner of a silver workshop in Moscow, had seven apprentices; active from 1865 to 1897. (See Postnikova-Loseva, 2370). Weight: 4.5 oz., (127.5 g.)
