A RUSSIAN SILVER OPENWORK TEAGLASS HOLDER WITH LANDSCAPE SCENE, EARLY 20TH CENTURY - Of cylindrical form with a shaped, scalloped rim and raised on a pierced circular base, the body is finely worked in openwork and engraving, depicting a naturalistic landscape with a large bird in flight above a riverbank with fencing and distant scenery. The composition is framed within a circular reserve, combining pierced and engraved decoration in a manner characteristic of late Imperial Russian decorative arts. The handle of elongated S-scroll form, richly cast with foliate ornament and terminating in a circular thumb rest, attached with a sculptural lower support. The interior retains traces of original gilding. Hallmarks: maker’s mark ”BA” in Cyrillic, together with a kokoshnik silver standard mark. Weight: 6.1 oz., (174 g.) Dimensions: H: 5 in., (12.7 cm.)
