A RUSSIAN PARCEL-GILT SILVER TEA GLASS HOLDER (PODSTAKANNIK), 1891 - A Russian parcel-gilt silver podstakannik of cylindrical form with a slightly flared base and applied strap handle of rounded rectangular section. The body is finely engraved with a symmetrical composition centered on a lozenge-form cartouche enclosing an ornate monogram (AM). The upper rim is finished with a delicate beaded border, lending refinement to the otherwise robust utilitarian form. The verso bears a silver standard mark ”84”, a date stamp ”1891”, the makers' initials: ”A.F”, and an assay mark L.O with the St. George emblem, for Moscow. Weight: 5.8 o., (164 g.) Dimensions: H: 4 3/8 in., (11.1 cm.) Conditions: Good overall condition with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. Gilding to the interior remains present. Light scratches and small areas of wear to the exterior, particularly near the base and handle attachment. Hallmarks remain legible. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
