A RUSSIAN SILVER TEAGLASS HOLDER WITH GENRE SCENE, LATE 19TH CENTURY - Of cylindrical form on a stepped circular foot, the plain body is applied with a finely cast and chased relief panel depicting three figures seated at a table in an interior setting, gathered around a samovar in a convivial scene rendered in the tradition of Russian genre subjects. The smooth surface of the vessel contrasts with the sculptural relief, emphasizing the narrative composition. The handle of a restrained curved form, attached at the upper rim and lower body with simple junctions. The interior retains a gilt wash. Hallmarks: kokoshnik mark, 84 silver standard, and maker’s mark in Cyrillic ”АК”. Weight: 6 oz., (172g.) Dimensions: H: 4 3/4 in., (12.1 cm.) Conditions: Very good condition overall.
