A SOVIET SILVER AND NIELLO TEAGLASS HOLDER WITH RURAL LANDSCAPE, MOSCOW, 1958 - Of cylindrical form with a rectangular handle and a pierced body, the upper register decorated with engraved and niello scenes depicting estate and village views. Executed in silver with openwork, engraving, chasing, and niello, the composition reflects mid 20th century Soviet decorative taste drawing on traditional rural imagery. Hallmarks: 875 silver standard with star and hammer and sickle in a semi oval cartouche, and factory mark ”МЮ38” for the Moscow Jewelry Factory, 1958. Weight: 3.5 oz., (99 g.) Dimensions: H: 2 3/4 in., (7 cm.) Conditions: Good overall condition with minor surface wear, light scratches, and areas of oxidation consistent with age and use. Niello well preserved.
